In China, nearly 2,000 people have lost their lives due to flooding. Whole villages and districts have been ruined, Fréttabladid reports.

In Pakistan, the death toll is rising—almost 2,000 people have died and up to 14 million people have been affected by the flooding caused by extensive monsoon rains, Morgunbladid reports.

The UN and EU have turned to SARWeather, a company in Iceland which specializes in customized weather forecasting tools for search and rescue teams, to establish a forecasting system for the disaster zone in Pakistan.
