A conference on international cooperation on sustainable development opened in Barbados on Tuesday, held by Iceland’s Foreign Ministry, the local government and the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs.

Iceland’s Foreign Minister Ingibjörg Sólrún Gísladóttir attended the opening of the conference as the head representative of an Icelandic delegation, discussing a potential cooperation between Iceland and developing island nations in the region.

Representatives from 16 Caribbean nations and from the UN also participated in the conference, as Fréttabladid reports.
