Iceland Review Nominated for Award

Iceland Review has been nominated for the Ministry for the Environment and Natural Resources’ media prize. The selection committee explains its choice of IR with these words:

Iceland Review, which reported on the Holuhraun eruption in a number of high-quality, informative articles, accompanied by photos, which delivered well to its readers, abroad as well as in Iceland, the awesome beauty of the volcanic activity and its effect on the delicate environment. Iceland Review sought a wide selection of sources and discussed various viewpoints rarely covered in newspapers, or on radio or TV, although traditional reporting of the progress of the eruption was also done. Coverage was published in the printed edition of the magazine, as well as in close to 300 articles in its online edition, always skillfully and well written.”

The other two nominations go to Hallgrímur Indriðason, RÚV reporter, for his coverage of the politically sensitive subject of options for hydroelectric power plants in Þjórsá river on his TV program September 17, 2014; and to the TV series The Biosphere in the Ocean Around Iceland, broadcast on N4.

The prize will be awarded Wednesday, September 16, which is the Day of Icelandic Nature.
