Iceland Ranks 21st in Football

A new FIFA World Ranking list, published today, ranks the Icelandic men’s national football team higher than ever. It is in 21st place, up six places from last month’s list, after two wins in the month, against Finland and Turkey.

Iceland is by far the best among the Nordic nations. Sweden ranks 39th on the list, Denmark 50th, the Faroe Islands 74th, seven places above Norway, which is in 81st place. Finland is the lowest ranking Nordic nation, number 101.

Argentina tops the list, followed by Germany and Brazil. At the bottom of the list are Gibraltar, Somalia, and Tonga.

In the FIFA Women’s ranking, Iceland is number sixteen, same as last month. The US tops that list, followed by Germany and France.
