Iceland ranks 13th in female representation in parliament

A study published yesterday by the Inter-Parliamentary Union ranks Iceland thirteenth in the world in female representation in parliament.

Twenty-one out of 63 members of Althingi are female, roughly one third of the representatives.

The highest ratio is in Rawanda, with 48% female representation. The other Nordic countries, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark, all place above Iceland in the top ten.
