Tomorrow, June 30, Icelanders will flock to polling stations to cast their vote for one of the six candidates running for President of Iceland. According to the latest surveys, more than 50 percent of voters favor the incumbent president, Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson.

Capacent Gallup concluded in a survey conducted for national broadcaster RÚV that 50.8 percent of respondents support Ólafur Ragnar, while in a survey conducted by Fréttablaðið and Stöð 2 as many as 57 percent of voters want him to remain in office, ruv.is reports.
According to Gallup, 33.6 percent of respondents favor Þóra Arnórsdóttir and according to Fréttablaðið and Stöð 2, 30.8 percent of voters support her.
Ari Trausti Guðmundsson follows with support rating of 9.3 percent in the Gallup poll and 7.5 percent in the Fréttablaðið and Stöð 2.
Support for Herdís Þorgeirsdóttir measures 3.4 and 2.6 percent, respectively, for Andrea J. Ólafsdóttir 2.5 and 1.7 percent and Hannes Bjarnason 0.8 and 0.3 percent.
Gallup called 2,000 voters at random June 22-26. The response rate was 60.7 percent. Ten percent of those who responded did not want to reveal whom they favor or were undecided and five percent intend either not to vote or to hand in an empty ballot.
Fréttablaðið and Stöð 2 conducted the survey June 25-26, calling 2,216 voters at random until they reached 1,500. Of these people, 65.1 percent agreed to participate in the survey and almost 25 percent were undecided.
Icelandreview.com sent five questions to each of the six candidates. Four of them responded but Herdís and Andrea did not, despite several attempts to encourage them to do so.
