Iceland to Play in 2015 Handball World Cup

The International Handball Federation has granted Iceland a place in the Handball World Cup in Qatar in January after Bahrain withdrew its team from the competition because of a political conflict with the host nation, ruv.is reports.

Iceland, which came sixth at the last World Cup in 2013, will play in the extremely strong Group C with World Cup holders France as well as Sweden, Algeria, Czech Republic, and multiple African Cup winners Egypt.

Iceland’s first game will be against Sweden on January 16. The game will be broadcast live on RÚV in Iceland.
