Iceland received 61 points in total, where televoting has 50 percent weight and the juries from the participating nations 50 percent. Twenty-five nations participated in the grand final.

Azerbaijan stood up as winner this year with 221 points, earning a trophy and the right to host next year’s contest. Italy placed second with 189 points and Sweden third with 185.

Iceland made it to the Eurovision Song Contest final after having qualified in the first semi-final on Tuesday.

For the third year in a row, Iceland was the tenth and last finalist announced, which is quite a coincidence—qualifiers are announced at random, not according to how many points they score.

Morgunbladid calculated that the odds of being in the last envelope for the third year in a row are one against 5,814, or 0.0172 percent.
