Iceland opens embassy in India

The Icelandic Broadcasting System, RÚV, reports that the foreign minister, Geir H. Haarde, will open a new embassy in New-Dehli on February 26.

The embassy will be located in the same building as the embassy of Denmark.

Geir will also make an official visit to India during the same trip and meet with senior members of India’s government.

A delegation of Icelandic businessmen and representatives of Icelandic companies will accompany Geir.

Sturla Sigurjónsson will serve as Iceland’s ambassador to India. India has expressed interest in opening an embassy in Iceland.
