Baugur CEO, Jón Ásgeir Jóhannesson, and Iceland’s first dollar billionaire, Björgólfur Thor Björgólfsson are interviewed by the British daily the Financial Times (FT) reports a front page article in Saturday’s Fréttabladid.
Fréttabladid writes that Björgólfur Thor told that FT that he is “particularly concerned about the political slant Jón Ásgeir has given the court case against him and the bad publicity it has generated.” According to Fréttabladid, Bjorgólfur Thor also says that the politics have been “overstated”.
Fréttabladid quotes Björgólfur Thor telling the FT that “Iceland is not a banana republic and you shouldn’t trivialize Icelandic society.”
According to Fréttabladid Jón Ásgeir tells the FT that his “feeling have grown colder on Iceland” and he “can’t spend too much time there any more. It gets annoying.”
FT also spoke to FL Group CEO, Hannes Smárason, who according to the FT “likened the Icelandic business community to the Medici family in Renaissance Florence”.
The three and a half page interview is on the cover of FT Magazine, a supplement of the the FT Weekend edition.
