A U.S. television crew from Disclose.tv that came to East Iceland last winter to shoot an episode for the Fact or Faked Paranormal Files about the infamous Lagarfljótsormurinn serpent in the river Lagarfljót, is not convinced that it doesn’t exist.

According to ruv.is, the crew, which includes a former FBI agent, based their research on footage shot by local farmer Hjörtur Kjerúlf, allegedly showing the serpent swimming in the river, which went viral.
They conducted experiments with floating a model serpent and controlling another remotely and concluded that Hjörtur’s video is probably of rubbish carried by the stream—their fake serpent wriggled in a similar way.
However, the crew also noticed a suspicious phenomenon, something swimming below their boat, which also appeared on the radar. Therefore they didn’t consider the Lagarfljótsormurinn legend to be busted.
Hjörtur has made claim to an ISK 500,000 (USD 4,000, EUR 3,000) prize local authorities declared that they would give to anyone successful in filming the mysterious serpent.
A truth commission was established to verify his video—the television crew’s findings may have an impact on their conclusion.
