In yesterday’s game, Slovakia scored the final goal in the last minute. Iceland had the chance of a draw but the Slovakian goalkeeper deflected Rut Jónsdóttir’s final shot just before the game ended, ruv.is reports.
Karen Knútsdóttir scored the most goals for Iceland, seven in total, and Rut followed with three. Goalkeeper Guðný Jenný Ásmundsdóttir deflected 12 shots and Íris Björk Símonardóttir four.
Slovakia now has two points like Iceland and France but Finland bottoms out with zero points. The top two teams will move on to the European Championship held in Hungary and Croatia in December 2014.
