Iceland Loses Against Slovenia in Football

The Icelandic national team in men’s football lost 2-4 against Slovenia in a home game on Laugardalsvöllur stadium in Reykjavík in the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil Qualifiers on Friday. Iceland beat Slovenia in an away game in March.

Iceland’s manager Lars Lagerbäck expressed his disappointment with the loss, yet pointed out that Iceland still has a shot for second place in their qualifying group, ruv.is reports.

Lagerbäck stated that Iceland had some good chances to score in the first half but disapproved of their defensive play. At half time, the score was 2-2.

After Slovenia scored their third goal in the second half, Iceland had to take a risk in the offense and that’s when Slovenia scored their fourth goal, Lagerbäck explained.

The recent tie between Albania and Norway improves Iceland’s chances, Lagerbäck concluded.
