Norway beat Iceland 1-0 in Iceland’s second game in the European Championship in Women’s Football in Finland yesterday, knocking Iceland to the bottom seat of the B qualifying group. Iceland will not make it to the eight-team final.
The game’s only goal was scored by Cecilie Pedersen a few seconds before half-time. Iceland fought aggressively in the second half to even the score, but in vain, mbl.is reports.
Iceland’s final game in the competition is against Germany on Sunday. Germany is currently the group’s strongest team. Iceland lost against France, the fourth team in the group on Monday. France will play Norway for second place in the group.
The Icelandic national women’s football team was the first Icelandic football team to qualify for a major tournament.
