Iceland is seventh in Lonely Planet’s Traveller’s Choice Top Destinations, published on the Lonely Planet Blog today.

Bhutan topped the list, followed by Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and India. Iceland is thus the top European destination on the list, with the next European country, Italy, in 19th place.
Iceland also scored sixth for adventure travel, second in both the nature and security categories, ninth in the off-the-beaten-path category and fourth for exceeding visitors’ expectations.
