Iceland ranks twelfth, down one place from last year, on the World Prosperity Index, from the Legatum Institute in London. Norway tops the list, as the world’s best country to live in, followed by Switzerland, and Denmark. The newly crowned rugby world champions in New Zealand are forth, followed by Sweden and Canada. Australia is number seven, followed by the Netherlands, Finland and Ireland. The US is one place above Iceland. Luxembourg, ranks 13th, followed by Germany and the UK.

Of the 142 countries included in the ranking, the Central African Republic is at the bottom, while Afghanistan is one place above it and Haiti third from the bottom.
