Approximately ten thousand people attended the Iceland Inspires concert held last night at Hljómskálagardurinn, Reykjavík’s Music Pavilion Park, in Reykjavík’s city center, visir.is reports. During the first hour it rained heavily but concert guests were well prepared. As the evening progressed, the rain stopped and the crowd grew.

The concert was streamed live on the website of Inspired by Iceland. It is believed that around twenty thousand people watched it online. “This couldn’t be better,” said Inga Hlín Pálsdóttir, one of the project’s managers. “The numbers we have seen indicate that 80-90 percent of those who saw the concert online were abroad,” said Pálsdóttir.
Among performers were Amiina, Steindór Andersen, Damien Rice, Lay Low and Dikta.
Inspired by Iceland is a joint collaboration between the Ministry of Industry, the newly founded Islandsstofa, the Iceland Tourist Board and the Icelandic Travel Industry Association.
