Iceland Honorary Guest at French Art Festival

Around 100 Icelandic artists, musicians and scholars will participate in the Les Boréales Art Festival which kicked off in Caen, France, yesterday. “Les Boréales” means “Northern Lights” and the festival always features the culture of Nordic countries. This year, Iceland is the honorary guest.

“The festival is known all around France and the media pay close attention to it,” Renaud Durville, the culture representative of the French Embassy to Iceland, told Morgunbladid. “The Nordic countries are fashionable in France and have been for the past few years.”

The program includes events from various artistic fields, such as dance, music, the visual art, film, literature and photography in addition to presentations on Iceland and Icelandic culture. The festival is the most extensive introduction of Icelandic culture in France to date.
