Iceland Gets 38 New Citizens

The Judicial Affairs and Education Committee of Alþingi, the Icelandic parliament, has submitted a bill on the granting of citizenship. They had received a total of 73 applications and suggest that 38 individuals be given Icelandic citizenship.

Most of these, or 13, come from Columbia, three originate from Iran and three in Mexico. Other prospective citizens were born in Jamaica, Uganda and Ghana, among other countries, Fréttablaðið reports.

The oldest person on the list was born in 1950 and comes from Vietnam. The youngest was born in 2005 and comes from the U.S.
