Iceland Foreign Minister Joins Condemnation of Gaza-Israel Conflict

Iceland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Össur Skarphéðinsson reiterated his concerns of an escalating military conflict in Gaza over the weekend. In a statement to the press, the minister stated his condemnation of the continued Israeli attacks on Gaza and Hamas rocket attacks on Israel.

Össur has called for an immediate halt to attacks on both sides of the conflict in Israel and Gaza and stresses the importance of avoiding an Israeli ground incursion in Gaza, urging the UN Security Council to do its utmost to resolve the situation.

Israel launched its Operation Pillar of Defense against Hamas last week, killing Hamas military chief Ahmed Jaabari in an air strike.
