Iceland first to lay eyes on new Harry Potter book

The employees of the bookstore Mál og menning on Laugavegur, Reykjavík’s main shopping street, were busy decorating their windows with Harry Potter motifs yesterday to prepare for the release of the new book.

Due to the time difference, the book will be on sale in Iceland before any other European country. “We can sense a lot of anticipation and excitement,” store manager Elsa María Ólafsdóttir told Bladid.

The seventh and last book in the series about the world’s favorite wizard, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, will be released July 20 and in Iceland the sale begins exactly at 11.01 pm in three Mál og menning and Eymundsson stores.
