Iceland Express announced yesterday that it would start flying to Alicante, Spain next spring reports Morgunbladid. The first flight will be on the 17th of May with two flights per week over the summer period. According to Birgir Jónsson, CEO of Iceland Express, the flights to Alicante will be in the same price bracket as the flights to other Iceland Express destinations with one way trips starting at ISK 7,995. According to the announcement the summer schedule is set and ticket sales begin on Wednesday; destinations include, Berlin, Friedrichshafen, Goteborg, Stockholm, London, Copenhagen and Frankfurt Hahn. Birgir says the new destinations are examples of the ambitious expansion plans of Iceland Express. He says that Iceland Express will show a profit this year.
Iceland Express recently purchased the travel agency Markmenn which focuses on soccer and golf tours. The name of the travel agency will be changed to Express Trips – the new service will enable Iceland Express to offer theme package tours at lower prices.
