Starting next spring Iceland Express will fly to six new destinations in Europe reports Morgunbladid. The destinations include Bergen in Norway, Stockholm and Gothenburg in Sweden, Hamburg, Berlin and Friedrichshafen in Germany. Iceland Express currently flies to London, Copenhagen and Frankfurt.
According to Iceland Express there will be two to four flights a week to the new destinations. Tickets go on sale in October. In an interview with Morgunbladid Birgir Jónsson, CEO of Iceland Express, says that when Iceland Express starts flying to the Nordic destinations Icelandair will lower their fares – “at least that is what happened when Iceland Express started to fly to London and Copenhagen”.
The owners of Iceland Express have recently acquired the Nordic airlines Sterling and Maersk Air.
