After the success of its Iceland-London Gatwick route, Iceland Express has set its sights further north and will offer scheduled flights between Birmingham Airport and Keflavík International Airport in the summer of 2010, as announced this week.
“We are seeing high consumer demand for travel to Reykjavík and are confident our amended schedule will be a success,” said CEO of Iceland Express Matthías Imsland in a press release. “We […] look forward to working with Birmingham Airport. Our new route will make flying to Iceland more convenient for people living north of London.”
The service will initially run once a week, every Sunday, for around 13 weeks. Birmingham will become the airline’s 18th destination in Europe and second destination in the UK. Iceland Express currently offers daily flights between Keflavík Airport and London Gatwick.
