Iceland failed to qualify for the final round of the Eurovision song contest currently underway in the Ukraine. But Iceland singer Selma Björnsdóttir took the setback in stride. “I can’t help, but to laugh at this”, she said in an interview with Icelandic daily Fréttablaðið. Selma also represented Iceland in 1999. In a tight race with Sweden for the top spot, she finished second with her song “All out of luck”. The landscape has changed since she last participated, she claimed. Eurovision, according to Selma, “has become a circus, and it is scandalous that Iceland and Holland did not progress to the finals.”
