Iceland Eruption Area Open Again

This morning the South Iceland Safety Commission decided in a meeting to open up the eruption area again, after abruptly closing it down last night, after a new rift opened in front of a hundred people at the scene.

Police say that so far there are not many people at the site. Bryndís Fanney Hardardóttir, manager at the location told mbl.is that she expected most people come at dusk. “That is the most beautiful time to watch the eruption”, she said.

Once again Hardardóttir stressed the importance of being careful. “Even though the lave is beautiful it is very dangerous”.
