Iceland ranks 11th, down two seats from last year, along with Finland, Luxembourg and Chile, on a list of economic freedom recently published by the Icelandic research center RSE. Hong Kong is at the top, followed by Singapore and New Zealand.
According to RSE, the least economic freedom is in Zimbabwe and Myanmar, Morgunbladid reports.
RSE publishes an annual report on economic freedom, evaluating the situation in 141 countries. The report is based on 42 different factors used to create a so-called “freedom index.”
According to the report, the cornerstones of economic freedom are individual freedom of choice, freedom for business and competition and the protection of ownership.
