Iceland Draws with Switzerland in World Cup Qualifier

The Icelandic national team in men’s football drew 4-4 against Switzerland in the World Cup 2014 preliminaries in Bern on Friday night.

Jóhann Berg Guðmundsson, who scored three of the four goals for Iceland, said that Iceland had played with a real fighting spirit to come from 4-1 down to equalize with the Swiss in the final seconds of the game.

Iceland, who has never competed at the World Cup, plays Albania at Laugardalsvöllur stadium in Reykjavík tomorrow night. According to, there are only 600 to 700 tickets left for the game.
