The Iceland Dance Company is scheduled to perform at the Guangdong Modern Dance Festival this April, the biggest dance festival in China, and in the US in October.
“I accompanied the president of Iceland to China in 2005 and organized meetings with a few representatives of Chinese modern dance,” managing director of the Iceland Dance Company Ása Richardsdóttir told Morgunbladid.
“Among them was a man named Willy Tsao, who is kind of a godfather to modern dance in China,” she added.
“Until now the Iceland Dance Company has mostly concentrated on the European market where it has been successful. […] We hope this China trip will prove a future investment,” Richardsdóttir said.
The Iceland Dance Company will visit the US for the first time in October. It was organized by Mark Baylin, who was recently hired as the Dance Company’s foreign agent.
