Iceland Competes in Chess Olympiad

Iceland secured a victory against Kenya in the 2012 Chess Olympiad biennial open chess competition in Istanbul on Thursday.

Hannes Hlífar Stefánsson, Hjörvar Steinn Grétarsson and Þröstur Þórhallsson won against their opponents and Dagur Arngrímsson finished with a draw, ruv.is reports.

The women’s team, however, lost to Australia, 1.5-2.5.

Iceland currently ranks 55 out of 155 participating nations. China tops the list in first position.
