Twelve songs have been chosen as contenders for Iceland’s 2018 entry in the Eurovision Song Contest, Vísir reports.
Six songs will be performed at each of two semi-finals, held on February 10th and 17th. The three songs that earn the most phone-in votes in each semi-final will then compete in the final at Laugardalshöll on March 3rd. RÚV, the Icelandic National Broadcasting Service, also has the right to select a wild card entry for the finals.
This year’s Eurovision Song Competition will be held in Lisbon, Portugal on May 8th, 10th, and 12th. Last year’s Icelandic entry, “Paper,” performed by Svala, failed to qualify for the finals, which hadn’t happened to Iceland since 2007. Iceland’s highest-ranking entries—2009’s “Is It True?” by Yohanna and 1999’s “All Out of Luck” by Selma—both came in second place.
