Iceland Beats Slovenia 0:6

Iceland beat Slovenia 0:6 yesterday in Slovenia in a preliminary game for the UEFA Women’s EURO 2017, to be held in the Netherlands. The team has thereby won all its three games and leads Group 1 with nine points, according to ksi.is.

Dagný Brynjarsdóttir scored the team’s first goal 15 minutes into the game, and five minutes later, another goal was scored by Harpa Þorsteinsdóttir.

This was Hólmfríður Magnúsdóttir’s 100th game with the team, but she was unfortunately forced to leave the field after 25 minutes, due to injury.

Harpa Þorsteinsdóttir scored a goal during the second half, followed by one from Margrét Lára Viðarsdóttir. The last two goals were scored by Sandra María Jessen and Dagný Brynjarsdóttir.

According to Vísir, the Scottish team has not yet lost a game, which makes it likely that Scotland and Iceland will fight for the top spot in the group―a spot which automatically qualifies a team for participation in the EURO 2017.
