A strong first half laid the basis for Iceland’s victory. Two of the goals were scored by Hólmfrídur Magnúsdóttir and the third was a penalty goal from Margrét Lára Vidarsdóttir. All the goals were scored in the first 32 minutes of the game, visir.is reports.

The Icelandic team was not as strong in the second half which is when Norwegian captain Ingvild Stensland scored Norway’s only goal.

Now Iceland is in a prime position in the group standings, even though there are many more games to come. However, Norway was considered the main opponent.
