The Icelandic national team in women’s basketball beat Norway 82-55 in its first national game in three years at the Nordic Championship in Oslo yesterday.
“We played a very good game, especially the defense where we forced the Norwegians into all parts of the court and we were also confident while shooting,” Hildur Sigurðardóttir, the team’s most experienced player, told Morgunblaðið.
Last weekend, at the Nordic Championship for young basketball players in Solna, Sweden, the Icelandic U-16 women’s team lost the game for the bronze against Denmark 56-62, mbl.is reports.
Meanwhile, the U-18 men’s team lost in the final against Finland 64-105.
