Iceland Beats Norway 2-0 in Historic Win

The national team in men’s football won Norway 2-0 in their first game in the 2014 World Cup preliminaries at Laugardalsvöllur stadium in Reykjavík yesterday evening. The win was the first against Norway in an international match in 25 years, ruv.is reports.

Kári Árnason scored the first goal in the 21st minute and Alfreð Finnbogason the second with just nine minutes remaining.

Iceland plays under the lead of the team’s new coach Lars Lagerbäck from Sweden, who was hired last winter.

Iceland’s next match will be against Cyprus on September 11.
