Iceland Beats Liechtenstein 4-0

The Icelandic men’s national football team confidently beat Liechtenstein 4-0 at Laugardalsvöllur, Reykjavík, last night. This was the team’s last warm-up game before the UEFA EURO 2016 in France later this month. According to RÚV, the victory was well deserved, since Iceland controlled the game from the beginning.

Kolbeinn Sigþórsson scored the first goal ten minutes into the game, assisted by Alfreð Finnbogason, followed by a brilliant goal from Birkir Már Sævarsson, scored at a 30 meter distance. Alfreð Finnbogason netted the third shortly before half time. Eiður Smári Guðjohnsen came in as a substitute during the second half and scored the game’s final goal in the 82nd minute.

The UEFA EURO 2016 in France will be the Icelandic team’s first major tournament. Iceland meets Portugal on June 14 before facing Hungary and Austria in Group F.
