The Icelandic national team in men’s football beat Kazakhstan 3-0 in an away game in Astana today. The team has now earned 12 points after five games in group A in the European Championship qualifiers.
The first goal was scored by Eiður Smári Guðjohnsen in the 20th minute, which was followed by a goal by Birkir Bjarnason in the 32nd minute. Birkir also scored the third goal, in the 90th minute, mbl.is reports.
After the game, Iceland and the Czech Republic shared the top spot in group A. The Netherlands comes second with six points, Turkey third with four, Latvia third with two and Kazakhstan bottoms out with a one point.
