The Icelandic women’s team in football (soccer) landed in the ninth place at the Algarve-Cup in Portugal yesterday by beating China 4-1 in an exciting game.
“This was in my opinion one of the best results for the women’s team from the start [of the existence of the team],” Iceland’s coach Sigurdur Ragnar Eyjólfsson told Fréttabladid after the game.
No goals were scored in first half of the game, but after the break the Icelandic team scored four goals in a row. The Chinese team scored only one goal, in the last minute of the game.
Iceland’s uncrowned goal queen, Margrét Lára Vidarsdóttir, scored two of the goals in yesterday’s game.
