Iceland Beats Angola 33-19

Iceland beat Angola 33-19 in the World Men’s Handball Championship in France last night, RÚV reports.

This was Iceland’s first victory at the championship, but the team had previously lost its games against Spain and Slovenia, and the game against Tunisia ended in a draw.

Iceland had the upper hand throughout last night’s game, and the score at half time was 16-8 for Iceland.

During the second half, the Icelandic team had trouble scoring the first ten minutes, but the final score was 33-19. That means Iceland now has three points in Group B after four games.

Guðjón Valur Sigurðsson, the team’s captain, had a good game and scored the most goals, or eight.

After the game, he remarked, “This was not the world’s most beautiful game, but a win is a win.”

Iceland meets Macedonia tomorrow. Guðjón stressed the importance of winning that game. “We need victory in the next game, and then we’re good.”
