Today, Minister of Foreign Affairs Össur Skarphédinsson presented Carl Bildt, Sweden’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, with an application for Iceland’s membership to the EU at a formal ceremony in Stockholm, mbl.is reports.
Skarphédinsson and Bildt discussed the application process and the next steps regarding Iceland’s membership in the EU.
Sweden took chairmanship of the EU earlier this month and will maintain the office for the next six months.
