Iceland and US to cooperate on use of geothermal energy

American Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, Alexander Karsner, visited Iceland last weekend to meet with Össur Skarphédinsson, the Icelandic Minister of Industry.

Karsner and Skarphédinsson discussed the use of geothermal energy and more specifically, the cooperation between the two nations in the field of energy use, Fréttabladid reports.

“We [Iceland and the US] have collaborated a lot on safety issues in the past, but that ended when the US Naval Air Station closed. Now collaboration on geothermal energy could become one of our main points of cooperation in the future,” said Skarphédinsson.
