The governments of Iceland and Myanmar have formally established diplomatic relations after a meeting between the Permanent Representatives of both countries to the United Nations last week.

Ambassador Gréta Gunnarsdóttir and Ambassador Kyaw Tin announced the decision in New York last Wednesday, as stated in a press release from the Icelandic Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
