Iceland also Boasts Bronze in Men’s Ice Hockey

icelandicflagThe Icelandic national team in men’s ice hockey won the bronze in the second-league World Championship in Zagreb, Croatia last weekend.

The Icelandic national team in women’s ice hockey also claimed the bronze in the fourth-league World Cup in Reykjavík earlier this month.

In other sport news, Thróttur from Neskaupstadur, east Iceland, became the Icelandic champion in women’s volleyball with a victory over HK from Kópavogur last weekend.

Thróttur is in fact a treble champion, having also won the Iceland Cup and league, Morgunbladid reports.

Meanwhile, the league champion in men’s handball, Akureyri, will play the final in the Icelandic Championship against FH from Hafnarfjördur as became clear after those two teams beat HK and Fram from Reykjavík, respectively, in the semi-finals last night.
