Iceland Airwaves Warms up for Music Festival

Iceland Airwaves and Reykjavík Grapevine newspaper organized a concert in nightclub NASA, in downtown Reykjavík, yesterday to celebrate the release of the Iceland Airwaves program and warm up for the music festival, now just ten days away.

Five bands performed at yesterday’s concert: Motion Boys, Jan Mayen, the Ultra Mega Techno Band Stefán, Bloodgroup and Foreign Monkeys.

The 2007 Iceland Airwaves program is available in various locations in the capital region as well as online, on icelandairwaves.com, listing more than 200 performers scheduled to play during the festival.

Art lovers will also get their fill during the music festival. Sequences, the name of the annual Reykjavík art festival, will in collaboration with Iceland Airwaves be held for the second time this year, between October 12 and 21.

Sequences is a low-budget real-time art festival, “which lives from the creative unfiltered energy of the artists in Iceland,” as described in a press release, and links to music and performance art through visual art.
