Iceland Airwaves opens tonight

The eighth Iceland Airwaves music festival will open tonight with concerts in four venues in downtown Reykjavík.

Among the bands performing tonight: We are Scientists, Frae, Forgotten Lores, The Telepathetics, Dikta, Original Melody, Cynic Guru, Tugs on Parole, Retro Stefson and The Handsome Public.

Yesterday, icelandairwaves.com reported that there were only 400 festival passes for Iceland Airwaves 2006 left. There will be no single night or individual event ticket sale, so the only way to enjoy the concerts is through a festival pass.

Tonight’s concerts will take place at NASA, Gaukurinn, Pravda and Grand Rokk. For more information, see www.icelandairwaves.com.

Passes can be bought on www.midi.is or at the Skífan record stores in Reykjavík.
