Iceland Airwaves Announces Off-Venue Program

By Iceland Review

Organizers of the Iceland Airwaves music festival released the off-venue program yesterday. With 675 performances at 52 locations, it’s the biggest off-venue program to date. Airwaves will start in Iceland’s capital on November 5, running through November 9. The first off-venue concerts take place on November 3.

Gigs will take place at numerous restaurants, cafés, hotels and stores around Reykjavík and other unorthodox concert venues like retirement home Grund. The off-venue program is available on and in the festival’s brand-new app.

A total of 219 artists will perform in 250 concerts at Iceland Airwaves this year, homegrown talents as well as foreign bands, including The Flaming Lips, The Knife, The War on Drugs, Caribou, Ásgeir, Samaris, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Future Islands, Anna Calvi, How To Dress Well, Sin Fang, Hozier, Sóley and FM Belfast.

The festival is sold out, however, a few package deals with Icelandair are still available. The off-venue concerts are free
