Iceland: a world record in sex

Icelanders are early bloomers according to a just published international report on sex from the condom manufacturer Durex.

According to the report, Icelanders hold a “world record” when it comes to the age when they start to have sex, 15.6 years, followed by Germans (15.6 years old) and Swedes (16.1 years old). Indians are 19.8 years old when they start to have sex. he average age worldwide is 17.

Others findings include that on average people have sex 103 times per year. The Icelandic National Broadcasting Service, RÚV, reports that Greece is the most “diligent” nation when it comes to sex – 138 times a year. Iceland is just above average; Icelanders have sex 109 times per year while the Japanese have sex 45 times a year.

RÚV reported the following results specific to Iceland:

– 57% of Icelanders have participated in unprotected sex without knowing the sexual history of their partner (world average 47%)

– 20% of Icelanders have had a sexually transmitted disease

– Icelanders placed fourth in number of partners, on average 13 (world average 9)

– 39% of respondents have had extra marital affairs

317,000 adults, from 41 countries, participated in the survey.
