Iceland is the seventh best country in the world for the over 60s, according to the Global AgeWatch Index.

The assessment, carried out by HelpAge International network, looks at quality of life based on income security, health and living environment.

Norway is the most age-friendly place among those to be surveyed to be old, then Sweden and Switzerland. Afghanistan is the worst, followed by Mozambique and the Palestinian territories, newscientist.com reports.

Mexico is ranked higher than Italy and Portugal, while Cambodia is similar to Turkey.
