Iceland’s Weird Girls Take on China

An Episode of The Weird Girls Project, a group of Icelandic performance artists, is taking place in Shanghai today, December 1. The event will be held, as usual, in a location and using costumes completely unknown to the women involved.

Kitty Von-Sometime, the group’s leader, traveled to Shanghai recently to discuss possible exhibition opportunities in 2012 and was offered support to produce a special Episode in the heart of Shanghai by Converse China, a press release states.

“The concept of freeing women from daily behavior is a particularly enjoyable and challenging idea to engage with in China, and the production of such large-scale events with a huge language barrier is also an adventure in itself,” Kitty wrote.

To her, today’s event is a test run for a further series next year in various locations throughout China.
