Iceland’s Tourist Industry on the Go

The Icelandic Travel Industry Association (SAF), along with the Icelandic Tourist Board, Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the Reykjavík Marketing Office and the Trade Council of Iceland, are currently undertaking a series of promotional events across Europe.

The initiative was launched in Stockholm on Thursday, traveled to Paris on Friday and events are scheduled for Copenhagen, Frankfurt and finally Oslo next week.

During the promotional meetings, organizers will review the current status of the Icelandic economy, present the future outlook of Icelandic tourist industry, business opportunities and novelties in tourism.

The main purpose with this tour is to meet Iceland’s partners in the tourist industry abroad, answer any questions they might have about the current economic situation and encourage them to continue organizing tours to Iceland.

For the past few weeks, tourism has been considered an important industry that will help strengthen the Icelandic economy. It is therefore important to take advantages of the opportunities at hand in that sector.

Employees of the Icelandic Tourist Board and the chairman of the Icelandic Tourist Council are currently promoting Iceland as a tourist destination at the World Travel Market expo in London.

However, representatives of Iceland’s tourist industry decided to wait on promoting Iceland further in the UK and the Netherlands in light of the current circumstances.
